Dr. Ricardo Diaz
Dr. Ricardo Diaz is a native son of San Antonio. He is an alumnus of St.
Mary's University and the University of Texas
Health Science Center at San Antonio Dental
School. After graduating
from Dental School in 1983, he voluntarily joined the United States Air Force
and served his country for 11 years. Dr. Diaz was on active duty during Desert Storm.
Dr. Diaz is a Board Certified Specialist in Periodontics and is a Diplomate
of the American Board of
Periodontology. He has extensive experience in all
areas of the treatment of gum disease and limits his practice to this area only.
To obtain Board Certification, Dr. Diaz successfully completed comprehensive
oral and written examinations given by a panel of internationally respected
periodontists. The examinations covered all phases of periodontal disease and
its treatment including dental implants. Board certification represents the
highest recognition of achievement by the periodontics specialty and indicates
expertise in the field of periodontics.

Dr. Eduardo Lorenzana
Dr. Lorenzana was born in San Salvador, El Salvador, and moved to Texas in
1979. He graduated from Southern Methodist University in Dallas in 1992 with a
Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences. He continued his studies at
Baylor College of Dentistry where he completed his dental training in 1996.
Following graduation, Dr. Lorenzana began a three-year residency in
periodontics and dental implants. Upon completion of his residency in June,
1999, Dr. Lorenzana earned a Master of Science degree in Oral Biology as well as
his certificate in Periodontics from Baylor College of Dentistry-Texas A&M
University System.
Dr. Lorenzana has authored a number of scientific
papers
and lectured internationally. He became a Board Certified Specialist in
Periodontics and a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology in May, 2000, having successfully completed both the written and oral parts of the American Academy of Periodontology Board certification process. Board certification represents the highest recognition of achievement in the field of periodontics and indicates expertise in all aspects of periodontics, including dental implants. In 2005, Dr. Lorenzana was inducted as a Fellow in the International Team for Implantology (ITI), a worldwide gathering of researchers, clinicians, and educators in the field of implant dentistry. As of this writing, there are only 384 ITI Fellows worldwide, and only 65 in the United States.
Dr. Lorenzana and his wife, who is originally from Fredericksburg, Texas, now
make their home in San Antonio.

Dr. Andrea Varesic*
Dr. Varesic graduated from the University of Illinois at
Urbana-Champaign in
1989 with a degree of Bachelor of Science in General Biology. She then earned
her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1994 from the University of Texas Health
Science Center Branch at Houston, graduating in the top ten of her class.
Her specialty training was also conducted at UTHSC-Houston where in 1997 she
earned her Specialty Certificate in Periodontics and a Master of Science in
Molecular Biology. Dr. Varesic has also earned Board Eligible status after
successfully completing Part I of the Board Certification process.
Dr. Varesic has extensive research experience and has published and presented
her findings in a number of papers and presentations.
